Rural King Apparel Development & Technical Design

For the past four and a half years, I have worked as a contractor for Rural King, leading multiple apparel development projects and overseeing major key programs for a $48 million dollar private label. My role focused on technical design, product development, fit standardization, and private label strategy, ensuring a seamless transition from concept to production. This work resulted in high-quality private label products that provided Rural King customers with premium apparel at a competitive price.

Project Scope & Key Contributions:

Technical Design & Product Development

  • Led major key programs for Rural King’s private label apparel, ensuring alignment with market trends, quality expectations, and cost efficiencies.

  • Created and refined tech packs for workwear, outerwear, and casual apparel, ensuring detailed construction guidelines and manufacturing accuracy.

  • Developed construction details and specifications for functional and performance-driven workwear.

  • Implemented design-to-production solutions, optimizing cost efficiency and quality across multiple product lines.

Sizing & Fit Standardization

  • Conducted size and grading evaluations to align Rural King’s fit with industry benchmarks.

  • Managed size standardization projects for men’s and women’s apparel, ensuring consistent grading across all styles.

Private Label Development & Line Sheet Strategy

  • Designed and managed key private label collections, overseeing seasonal line sheet reports and product assortments.

  • Led strategic planning of major seasonal assortments, integrating market trends with product performance data.

  • Worked closely with factories and sourcing teams to optimize fabrication, construction, and cost efficiencies while maintaining quality standards.

Apparel, Print & Graphic Design

  • Designed workwear, outdoor apparel, and casual lifestyle pieces under Rural King’s private label brands.

  • Led print and fabric development, including custom dye techniques, graphic applications, and branding placements.

  • Developed marketing and digital assets, such as product guides, promotional materials, and line sheets, to support in-store and online sales efforts.

Focused on fabric sourcing, construction durability, and fit consistency, this program provided a competitive alternative to national brands at an unbeatable price point.

  • Lincoln Outfitters Men’s Relaxed Fit Canvas Cargo Pant – Developed with reinforced stitching, functional pockets, and workwear-inspired materials, balancing durability with comfort comparable to leading brand at $29.99.

  • Rural King Private Label Collection – Directed the private label development, optimizing design, sourcing, and production planning to deliver high-quality, affordable alternatives to branded competitors with noted growth and spotlight categories for four years.
